The week to 7 September in numbers
CoinGecko daily snapshots (00:00 UTC):
| Date | Price | Market cap | 24h volume |
|---|---|---|---|
| 31 August 2026 | $0.2052 | $681.3M | $39.6M |
| 7 September 2026 | $0.2754 | $914.3M | $215.7M |
| 8 September 2026 | $0.2536 | $842.0M | $93.6M |
Two points stand out:
- Volume rose with price. 24-hour volume was about 5.5 times higher on 7 September than a week earlier. That points to new money coming in, not just a thin market drifting up.
- The peak did not hold. About 8% of the move was gone within a day.

Enter a JUP price to see how many times it would have to multiply to get back to the $2.00 all-time high of 31 January 2024.
| JUP price | Multiple needed to reach $2.00 |
|---|---|
| 0.2803 USD | 7.14 x |

- The $2.00 all-time high (31 January 2024) is CoinGecko's figure as reported in the article.
- The worked examples use prices from the article: $0.2052 on 31 August, $0.2754 on 7 September, $0.3747 on 9 October and the $0.1358 all-time low of 12 February 2026.
- A result of 1 means the price you entered already equals the $2.00 high.
This only divides the old high by a price you enter. It does not forecast JUP, and it leaves out buybacks, burns, token unlocks and market cap.
What sits behind the supply picture
The 50% buyback
On 26 January 2025, The Block reported that the project's founder, known as Meow, said 50% of protocol fee revenue would be used to buy JUP on the open market. The bought tokens go into what he called the "long-term litterbox." The other half of fees would fund "growth, future strategy, and full operational stability." The Block's report gives no lockup period or release terms for the bought tokens.
The 3 billion JUP burn
The same report says Meow repeated a planned burn of 3 billion JUP, valued at about $3.6 billion at the time. He said it was meant to cut emissions and lower the fully diluted valuation. CoinGecko's current max supply of 10 billion and total supply of 6.86 billion are consistent with a burn of that size.
What drove the September move
The German-language outlet interactivecrypto.com, in a report dated 7 September 2026, linked the rally to the buyback and to whale buying on the spot market. It said the Litterbox Trust bought 143,572 JUP on 5 September alone and had bought more than one million JUP so far that month.
What to watch
- Buyback pace against unlocks. Circulating supply (3.32 billion) is less than half of total supply (6.86 billion). Whether buybacks keep up with tokens entering circulation matters more for supply than any single week's price.
- Volume on rallies. In early September, volume rose with price. The October fade from $0.37 came with daily volume well below the 9 October peak of $195.4M.
- Distance from the high. At $0.28, JUP would need about a 7x rise to return to $2.00.
The explanation for the September rally comes from a single outlet; the price and supply figures come from CoinGecko alone.
