On 25 October 2026, RUNE traded at about $0.62, giving it a market capitalisation of about $205 million (CoinGecko). Nobody can forecast where it will be in 2030 with any reliability. CoinCodex's algorithmic model projects roughly $0.56 at the end of 2026 and roughly $0.52 at the end of 2030, which is close to flat. A return to the 2021 all-time high of $20.87 would need a market capitalisation of almost $7 billion at today's circulating supply. That is about 33 times the current figure. What matters more than any single target is the set of things that actually move RUNE: swap fees flowing through the network, a much smaller supply after 2026's burn, and a run of security incidents this year.

Where RUNE stands on 25 October 2026
| Metric | Value | Source, date |
|---|---|---|
| Price | ~$0.62 | CoinGecko, 25 Oct 2026 |
| Market capitalisation | ~$205M | CoinGecko, 25 Oct 2026 |
| Circulating supply | ~329.3M RUNE | CoinGecko, 25 Oct 2026 |
| Total supply | ~353.9M RUNE | CoinGecko, 25 Oct 2026 |
| Maximum supply | ~360M RUNE (cap set by ADR-023) | Protocol documentation |
| All-time high | $20.87, 18 May 2021 | CoinGecko |
| All-time low | $0.0085, 27 Sep 2019 | CoinGecko |
| 1-year change | about −27.5% | CoinGecko, 25 Oct 2026 |
| 50-day / 200-day SMA | $0.634 / $0.489 | CoinCodex, 25 Oct 2026 |
| 14-day RSI | 44.3 (neutral) | CoinCodex, 25 Oct 2026 |
The price is just below its 50-day average and well above its 200-day average. That fits a token that recovered from mid-2026 lows but has not yet set a new trend. These figures change daily, so treat them as a snapshot.
What the forecast models say
| Source (25 Oct 2026) | End of 2026 | December 2027 (avg) | End of 2030 |
|---|---|---|---|
| CoinCodex (algorithmic) | $0.555 | $0.351 (range $0.308–$0.394) | $0.521 |
CoinCodex builds its projections from past price action and technical indicators. On 25 October its own sentiment reading was "bearish": 11 bullish indicators against 21 bearish. The page also contradicts itself, because the monthly table and the FAQ give different 2027 figures. That shows these models are mechanical extrapolations, not research.
What different prices would imply
A simpler way to judge any target is to multiply it by supply. At about 329.3M circulating RUNE:
| RUNE price | Implied market capitalisation |
|---|---|
| $0.62 (25 Oct 2026) | ~$205M |
| $1 | ~$329M |
| $5 | ~$1.65B |
| $10 | ~$3.29B |
| $20.87 (2021 high) | ~$6.87B |
A 2030 target in double digits assumes the network becomes worth several billion dollars. That valuation would have to come from fees, which is the subject of the next section.
What drives RUNE's value
RUNE is the settlement asset of a cross-chain liquidity network. According to the protocol's documentation, every liquidity pool pairs an external asset (BTC, ETH and others) with RUNE. All swaps settle through RUNE, and validators must bond RUNE to take part in consensus. Demand for RUNE therefore rises with how much liquidity and swap activity the network attracts.
Where the fees go
Under the current documentation, system income is split as follows:
- 59% to validators and liquidity providers, balanced by the "Incentive Pendulum"
- 20% to protocol-owned liquidity (POL)
- 10% to TCY stakers
- 5% to the developer fund
- 5% to marketing
- 1% burned
POL went live in September 2026. TCY is a separate token. It was created to settle claims left when the protocol's lending and savers products were paused in January 2025. Each dollar of outstanding claims became one TCY, and the total supply is 210M. Since 10% of income now goes to TCY stakers and 1% is burned, the burn is a small factor in RUNE's supply. Some data pages still describe a 5% burn, which is outdated.
Supply after ADR-023
ADR-023 cut RUNE's maximum supply from 500M to about 360M by burning roughly 64.9M RUNE from the Reserve. That left about 9.3M for operations and as a buffer against exploits. The burn was carried out in May 2026; one report puts the amount actually destroyed at 64.4M. The protocol states that all RUNE is now released, with no vesting or locked allocations. Because the burned tokens sat in the Reserve, circulating supply did not fall. The change mainly narrowed the gap between market capitalisation and fully diluted value, and it means token unlocks no longer add selling pressure.
What market cap does your RUNE target imply?
Enter a RUNE price target and a supply figure to see the market capitalisation that target would need.
| RUNE price target | RUNE supply used for the calculation | Implied market capitalisation |
|---|---|---|
| 0.62 $ | 329.3 M RUNE | 204.2 million USD |
| 10 $ | 329.3 M RUNE | 3,293 million USD |
| 20.87 $ | 329.3 M RUNE | 6,872.5 million USD |
| 0.52 $ | 360 M RUNE | 187.2 million USD |
- The price target is your own input, not a forecast from any source.
- Supply figures come from CoinGecko and the protocol documentation as of 25 Oct 2026 and can change.
- The result for $0.62 differs slightly from CoinGecko's ~$205M because the inputs are rounded.
This only multiplies price by supply: it cannot say whether any target is likely, and it ignores fees, network incidents and demand, which the article names as what actually moves RUNE.
The 2026 events that moved the network
- 15 May 2026: vault exploit. A newly added node operator exploited a weakness in the GG20 threshold signature scheme and rebuilt the private key of one vault. The loss was about $10.7 million. Node operators approved recovery plan ADR028 on 27 May. Losses are covered first by protocol-owned liquidity, and any shortfall is shared with synthetic asset holders. No new RUNE is minted or sold. Trading reopened on 23 June after the v3.19 upgrade.
- 25 August 2026: v3.20. The release announced native Zcash and Monero swaps against Bitcoin, Ethereum and stablecoins. It also included protocol-owned liquidity, a Stable Reserve, and restored support for Solana, Base and BNB Chain. Zcash swaps went live.
- 9 October 2026: USDT freeze on Tron. Tether blocklisted four of the network's six Tron vaults, which held about 1.45M USDT, or 93% of its Tron USDT. Tron trading, signing and liquidity actions halted. About two hours later the addresses appeared to be unfrozen, and USDT swaps resumed at 15:58 UTC. Tether has not explained the move.
- 19 October 2026: Zcash bug. An outbound-matching bug caused a vault slash. About 140 RUNE was deducted from the bonds of 18 nodes, with no loss of user or vault funds. ZEC swaps were halted pending a fix.
- 23 October 2026: v3.21 (scheduled). The upgrade was set for block 28,366,100. It fixes the Zcash bug, patches the flaw behind an exploit of the app layer's FIN contract, and restarts Solana trading and limit swaps.
Each incident halted swaps for a time, and a halt means lost fees. Each fix that holds brings back the fee base the valuation depends on.
What would change the outlook
Supportive
Sustained growth in swap fees matters most, because fees are the only source of validator, liquidity-provider and POL income. Upgrades that ship without halts would also help, along with a fixed supply that has no unlocks and steady POL deposits that deepen pools.
Negative
The main risk is more exploits or vault failures. The network also depends on third-party asset issuers, as the Tron USDT freeze showed. Slower fee growth and regulatory pressure on non-custodial cross-chain swapping would also weigh on the price.
FAQ
What is the RUNE price prediction for 2026?
On 25 October 2026, CoinCodex's model projected about $0.555 for the end of 2026, against a price of about $0.62 that day. It is a mechanical extrapolation, not a researched estimate.
What is the RUNE price prediction for 2030?
CoinCodex projects about $0.52 for the end of 2030. Higher targets that circulate online imply market capitalisations in the billions. Check any target by multiplying it by roughly 329M circulating RUNE.
Will RUNE reach $10?
At current supply, $10 means a market capitalisation of about $3.3 billion, roughly 16 times the 25 October 2026 level. CoinCodex's model does not project it; its 2030 figure is about $0.52.
How many RUNE tokens exist?
After ADR-023 the maximum supply is about 360M. CoinGecko showed about 353.9M total and 329.3M circulating on 25 October 2026.
Does RUNE still have a burn-and-mint mechanism for synthetic assets?
No. ADR-023 notes that minting ended when the protocol's lending products were removed. Today 1% of system income is burned.
