What is 2FA?

2-Factor Authentication (2FA) requires users to verify identity through two authentication methods (e.g. password, Time-based One-time Password – TOTP or an app-generated code) to serve as another layer of protection ensuring that transactions are done only by the authorized person/user.

How do I enable 2FA through my Zipmex app or my web browser?

  • Web browser
    • Log in to your Zipmex account -> Go to Settings -> Profile & Security
    • Under 2-Factor Authentication, turn the toggle switch ON
    • “Enable 2-Factor Authentication” will pop up
    • Follow the pop-up instructions to complete the authentication
    • Download a 2FA app (eg. Google Authenticator or Authy) on your phone
      • Save the QR code as an emergency backup
      • Open the 2FA app and scan the QR code to add your Zipmex account to the app
      • Enter the 6 digit-code from your 2FA app on the screen to complete the verification

  • Mobile app
    • Log in to your Zipmex app -> Go to Profile -> Security Settings
    • Click on 2-Factor Authentication ->  turn the toggle switch ON
    • Follow the instructions to enable 2FA
      • Download a 2FA app (eg. Google Authenticator or Authy) on your phone
      • Save the QR code as an emergency backup
      • Add your Zipmex account to your Authenticator app either by scanning the QR code or copying and pasting the setup key
      • Enter the 6 digit-code from your 2FA app on the screen to complete the verification

Do I have to enable 2FA?

  • No, it is not mandatory to enable 2FA. However, we do recommend enabling 2FA. To enable it, you need to input your TOTP from your authenticator AND the 6-digit code you receive from us via email.
Once 2FA is enabled, you’ll need to input the TOTP every time when logging in, unless you have the trusted device toggle on – in which case you don’t have to enter the TOTP to log in for 7 days. It sounds complicated, but once you see it at work, it’s actually very simple.
  • Before your withdrawal from your Zipmex account can be processed to your bank account and other wallets, we’ve added an additional security step by enabling 2FA for withdrawals.

What if I can’t authenticate using the code from my 2FA app after submitting a withdrawal request?
