MetaMask Airdrop: Is There a $MASK Token to Claim in 2026?

No MetaMask token exists to claim. MetaMask's help centre says there are no plans for a $MASK token, and Rewards now runs one-off campaigns.

There is no MetaMask airdrop to claim, and no $MASK token exists. As of October 2026, MetaMask's own help centre says "there are no plans for a $MASK token". The same page says Rewards Season 1 has ended and "there are no concrete plans for future seasons". The Rewards programme now runs short one-off campaigns. Any website, email or direct message offering a $MASK claim is a scam.

Latest: the Consensys split, and no word on a token (September 2026)

On 9 September 2026, Consensys announced that it will split into two companies, according to CoinDesk and Fortune:

  • MetaMask. Consensys Software Inc. will rename itself MetaMask and keep the wallet and consumer business, including the Money Account and the mUSD stablecoin. Joe Lubin will be chairman and CEO.
  • A new Consensys. A new company will take the Consensys name. It gets the Linea blockchain and the Besu and Teku Ethereum software teams, and it will serve institutions. Mike Kriak will be CEO, David Cunningham president and Lubin executive chairman.
  • Timing. The separation is "expected to be completed by the end of 2026" (CoinDesk).

The announcement did not mention a token. Fortune reported that Lubin told it fewer companies want to issue their own cryptocurrencies in the current business and regulatory climate. The company also did not say whether either business still plans to go public. A spokesperson told Fortune: "We don't comment on market speculation or potential future capital markets activity."

How the token story changed, 2021 to 2026

  • 2021: MetaMask engineer Erik Marks proposed community ownership of the wallet through a token (The Block).
  • May 2025: MetaMask co-founder Dan Finlay called a token still a "maybe" and said a link would appear inside the wallet if one ever launched (The Block).
  • 19 September 2025: On The Block's podcast, Lubin said: "The MASK token is coming — It may come sooner than you would expect right now." He said the token was "significantly related to the decentralization of certain aspects of the MetaMask platform." He gave no date.
  • 8 October 2025: MetaMask launched in-wallet perpetual futures and announced Rewards. The announcement was headlined as confirming token plans but gave no details about a token.
  • 28 October 2025 to 23 January 2026: Rewards Season 1 ran. Its rewards were $LINEA tokens, not $MASK.
  • 23 February 2026: MetaMask said Season 1 had ended and the claim window was closed.
  • 6 May 2026: Rewards returned with trading challenges, airdrops and a new Benefits tab. The Benefits tab shows perks and token allocations based on what a wallet holds.
  • 9 September 2026: Consensys announced the split described above.
  • October 2026: MetaMask's help centre states there are no plans for a $MASK token.

Many guides still say the token is "confirmed" and predict a launch in the second half of 2026. MetaMask's own pages now say the opposite.

What MetaMask Rewards is now

Rewards is still a live feature in MetaMask Mobile. According to the help centre, it is "primarily focused on campaigns", which are "unique, one-time reward incentives that run for a set amount of time". The help centre also answers "No" to whether Rewards is the same thing as $MASK.

Recent campaigns listed on MetaMask's support site:

CampaignDatesPrizeMain condition
Money Sweepstakes17 Sep – 15 Oct 2026Up to $5,000 mUSD a week, up to $20,000 in total, two winners per weekly drawDeposit at least 100 mUSD into Money Account in one transaction and keep a balance of $100 or more
Predict the Pitch (ended)28 Jun – 19 Jul 2026Up to $75,000 in mUSD shared by 20 winnersPredictions of at least $10 on World Cup markets in at least three markets

The Money Sweepstakes was not open to residents of the United Kingdom, New York or Florida. It was also unavailable wherever Money Account or mUSD is not offered. Check the Rewards tab for campaigns that are currently running.

Points do not lead to any token. The help centre says past participation in Season 1 or in campaigns "may or may not be considered for future incentives".

Is that $MASK claim real?

Pick what brought you here to see what MetaMask's own pages say applies to you.

  1. What brought you to this question?

  2. Did it ask for your Secret Recovery Phrase, a phone call or a support call?

  3. Is your main reason to qualify for a possible future MetaMask token?

This is a scam: stop now

MetaMask will never ask for your Secret Recovery Phrase, has no support phone number and will never ask you to join a call. Never enter the phrase on any website.

Treat this claim as a scam

No $MASK token exists and MetaMask's help centre says there are no plans for one. MetaMask will never send unsolicited emails. If a token ever launches, the official channels are metamask.io, the in-wallet Rewards tab and MetaMask's verified X account.

Leave it alone and hide it

Anyone can create a token and name it anything. MetaMask's support site advises not to interact with an unexpected token or NFT that points to a claim website; you can hide it instead. Compare any token's contract address with the legitimate token's address before relying on it.

That is a different project

Mask Network is a separate project. It is not MetaMask's token.

The Season 1 claim window has closed

MetaMask said on 23 February 2026 that Season 1 had ended and the claim window was closed. Unclaimed $LINEA allocations can no longer be claimed, and no Season 2 has been announced.

There is no stated link to any token

MetaMask has not published any eligibility criteria, snapshot or points-to-token conversion, and says it has no plans for a $MASK token. Network fees, perps trading fees and price risk are real costs, and past participation 'may or may not' be considered for future incentives.

Look for a current campaign in the Rewards tab

Rewards in MetaMask Mobile now runs one-time campaigns for a set amount of time, each with its own conditions and regional limits. Check the Rewards tab for campaigns currently running and read their terms.

This guide reflects MetaMask's public pages up to 25 October 2026 only: it cannot check a specific link, token or message for you, and MetaMask's plans may change without notice.

What Season 1 paid out

Season 1 is over, but its terms show how MetaMask has rewarded activity so far:

  • Reward pool: "Over $30M USD in $LINEA token allocations", shared in proportion to points.
  • Minimum to qualify: the Frontier level, at more than 1,000 points.
  • Earning rates: 8 points per $10 of swaps, 1 point per $10 of perpetual futures trades, 2 points per $1 of prediction-market trades and 1 point per $1 of MetaMask Card spending.
  • Loyalty bonus: 250 points per $1,250 of past swap and bridge volume, up to 50,000 points per account.
  • Other perks: sign-up and referral bonuses, a 2x boost on swaps on the Linea network, and higher levels that brought perps fee discounts and, at the top Utopia level (more than 5,000,000 points), a one-year MetaMask Metal Card.

The Season 1 claim window closed in February 2026. Unclaimed allocations can no longer be claimed.

Should you farm activity for a possible future token?

MetaMask has not published any eligibility criteria, snapshot or points-to-token conversion. Volume you generate now has no stated link to any future token.

Activity also costs money. Network fees, perps trading fees and price risk are real costs, and the payout is not guaranteed. Use MetaMask's features because they are useful to you, not to qualify for a token that the company says it has no plans to issue.

Even when airdrops do happen, they are often worth less than expected. A DappRadar report found that about 88% of airdropped tokens lose value within three months of launch.

How to avoid MetaMask airdrop scams

Fake $MASK claims are the main risk on this topic. MetaMask's support pages set out these rules:

  • Ignore unsolicited emails. MetaMask "will never send you unsolicited emails". It replies only to support tickets you open, and only from the sender domains listed on its support pages.
  • Never share your recovery phrase. MetaMask will never ask for your Secret Recovery Phrase, has no support phone number and will never ask you to join a call. Never enter the phrase on any website.
  • Leave unknown tokens and NFTs alone. Anyone can create a token and name it anything. If an unexpected token or NFT points you to a claim website, the support site advises not to interact with it. You can hide it instead.
  • Check contract addresses. Compare a token's contract address with the address of the legitimate token before relying on it.
  • Use official channels only. If MetaMask ever launches a token, the official channels are metamask.io, the in-wallet Rewards tab and MetaMask's verified X account. Finlay said in 2025 that a link would appear inside the wallet itself.
