Why the supply is below 88.88 billion
- 17 December 2024: PENGU launched on Solana with a total supply of 88,888,888,888 tokens (The Block, Decrypt). DEX Screener data shows the earliest trading pair for the mint was created on 17 December 2024 at 12:46 UTC.
- 30 January 2025: The team cut the airdrop claim window to five more days (Decrypt). The window had originally been set at 88 days, ending 15 March 2025.
- 5 February 2025: Claims closed. The 12,164,667,616 unclaimed PENGU were sent to the Solana burn address "1nc1nerator". Decrypt put that at 13.69% of supply.
88,888,888,888 minus 12,164,667,616 is about 76.72 billion, which matches the current on-chain supply. A token claiming to be PENGU with a supply of exactly 88.88 billion, or with an active mint authority, is not the original mint.
How to verify a PENGU address
