Pudgy Penguins (PENGU) ended the week to 7 September 2026 at about $0.00846. That was 3% lower than a week earlier and 34% higher than a month earlier. The price changed little, but trading volume did not. On 7 September, 24-hour volume reached about $218.7 million, against a market capitalisation of about $552.9 million. In early August, daily volume had mostly been between $30 million and $78 million. The token was still about 87.6% below its all-time high of $0.06845. Price, market-cap and volume figures are CoinGecko daily values (UTC).

What changed: volume, not price
August brought the big move. PENGU rose from $0.00592 on 1 August to $0.00872 by 31 August, a gain of about 47%. In the first week of September the price moved sideways, but volume kept climbing. It went from $114.3 million on 2 September to more than $218 million on 4 and 7 September. On 7 September, volume equalled about 40% of market capitalisation. That is a lot of turnover for a token whose price was not breaking out. When activity rises this much without a clear move in price, buyers and sellers are trading heavily against each other and neither side is winning.
The next day, 8 September, CoinGecko shows $0.00809, down 4.4% from 7 September. That puts the bottom of the week's range under pressure.

These are daily closing snapshots only: they leave out intraday swings, the 8 September move and vesting supply, and say nothing about where the price goes next.
Supply and unlocks
According to Decrypt's report on the December 2024 launch:
- PENGU launched on Solana on 17 December 2024, with a total supply of about 88.88 billion tokens.
- 25.9% went to Pudgy Penguins NFT communities through an airdrop, and 24.12% to other communities.
- 17.8% went to the team and 11.48% to Igloo Inc., the parent company. Both allocations have a one-year cliff followed by three years of vesting.
- 12.35% was reserved for liquidity, 4% for public-good efforts and 4% for "proliferation", meaning brand expansion.
Under that schedule, the team and company cliff ended around December 2025, so their tokens would be vesting throughout September 2026 and adding new supply. As of 25 October 2026, CoinGecko lists about 62.86 billion PENGU in circulation out of a maximum of 88.89 billion. That leaves roughly 29% of the maximum supply not yet circulating.
What to watch
- Volume against price. Volume above $200 million without a matching price move is the main signal from this week. If it continues while the price slips, as it did on 8 September, sellers are absorbing the demand.
- The 4 September low ($0.00829). The 8 September value was already below it.
- Vesting supply. Team and company tokens unlocking under the launch schedule add steady supply.
Daily closing snapshots hide intraday swings, which for a token turning over 40% of its market cap in a day can be much wider than the 6% range above. This is not investment advice. Crypto assets are volatile and you can lose your capital.
