POPCAT contract address: the official Solana mint and how to check it

The official POPCAT mint on Solana is 7GCihgDB8fe6KNjn2MYtkzZcRjQy3t9GHdC8uHYmW2hr. How to check it and spot look-alike tokens.

The official POPCAT (Popcat) token is a Solana token. Its mint address is 7GCihgDB8fe6KNjn2MYtkzZcRjQy3t9GHdC8uHYmW2hr, with 9 decimals. Three independent sources give the same address: the project's site popcatsolana.xyz, its about page, and CoinGecko's listing (checked 25 October 2026). A token that has the POPCAT name but any other address is not this token.

`` Network: Solana Mint: 7GCihgDB8fe6KNjn2MYtkzZcRjQy3t9GHdC8uHYmW2hr Decimals: 9 ``

Why the address is the only thing that counts

On Solana, the docs say that "Tokens on Solana are uniquely identified by the address of a Mint Account owned by the Token Program." The name, ticker and logo are just metadata, and anyone can copy them for free. The mint address can't be copied. Every wallet balance of real POPCAT sits in a token account whose mint field points to that one address.

So you are never checking whether a token is called POPCAT. You are checking whether its mint is 7GCihgDB8fe6KNjn2MYtkzZcRjQy3t9GHdC8uHYmW2hr.

Is there POPCAT on other networks?

The project's site publishes one address, the Solana mint above. CoinGecko's POPCAT listing shows Solana as the only platform. Some third-party data sites list POPCAT-named contracts on other networks, such as Ethereum. Neither the project nor CoinGecko lists any of them, so treat them as separate or wrapped tokens with their own risks. They are not the native token.

Is this token the real POPCAT?

Answer four checks about the token in front of you to see whether it matches the official Solana mint.

  1. Which network is the POPCAT-named token on?

  2. Does its mint address match 7GCihgDB8fe6KNjn2MYtkzZcRjQy3t9GHdC8uHYmW2hr in every character, checked against the address on popcatsolana.xyz?

  3. In a Solana block explorer, is the account a token mint with 9 decimals and the name Popcat (POPCAT)?

  4. Was the token created only days ago, with a small number of holders?

Not the native token

The project's site and CoinGecko list only the Solana mint. A POPCAT-named contract on another network is a separate or wrapped token with its own risks.

Not this token

A token with the POPCAT name but any other address is not POPCAT. Look-alike addresses often share the first and last few characters with the real one.

Stop and check the address again

The real mint is a token mint with 9 decimals named Popcat (POPCAT). If the explorer shows something else, you may have pasted a different address; copy it again from popcatsolana.xyz.

Likely a copy

A POPCAT-named token created days ago with a small number of holders is a copy. Real POPCAT sits only under the official mint.

Matches the official mint

The network, address, decimals and name match what the project and CoinGecko publish. The mint and freeze authority figures in the article come from one automated audit; an explorer shows their current values.

This only checks whether a token matches the official mint; it does not verify the project's own claims of 0/0 tax, a burnt liquidity pool or an immutable contract, and says nothing about whether to buy.

How to check a POPCAT token in four steps

  1. Compare the full address, every character. Look-alike addresses are often made to share the first and last few characters with the real one. Check the whole string against the address on popcatsolana.xyz.
  2. Open the mint in a Solana block explorer. Paste the address and confirm that the account is a token mint, that decimals is 9 and that the name is Popcat (POPCAT).
  3. Look at the mint and freeze authorities. The Solana docs define the mint authority as "the account authorized to create new units of the token" and the freeze authority as "the account authorized to freeze tokens in a Token Account." HashEx's automated audit of the real mint (created 31 January 2025, updated 25 March 2026) reports "no account can mint additional tokens" and "Holders cannot be blacklisted!" It also gives a total supply of 979,937,416.39 POPCAT. These authority and supply figures come from that one source; an explorer shows the current values.
  4. Check the token's age and history. A POPCAT-named token created days ago, with a small number of holders, is a copy.

What the project says about itself

The about page calls POPCAT "a meme coin with no intrinsic value or expectation of financial return" and says the token is "for entertainment purposes only." It traces the meme to October 2020 and to videos of a cat named Oatmeal opening and closing its mouth. The page also claims a 0/0 tax, a burnt liquidity pool and an immutable contract. Those are the project's own claims and were not checked on-chain for this article.

Common traps around the POPCAT name

  • Same ticker, new mint. New tokens copy the POPCAT name and logo. The address is the only reliable difference.
  • "Airdrop" or "v2 migration" pages. The official site says nothing about an airdrop, a migration or a new contract. A page that asks you to connect a wallet to claim or swap POPCAT is not from the project as far as its published channels show.
  • Wrong network. Buying a POPCAT-named token on another chain, thinking it is the Solana original, gets you a different asset.
  • Unsolicited "support". Messages offering to verify your wallet or asking for a seed phrase are scams. No real support team needs a seed phrase.

The project lists its official channels on its site: X at twitter.com/POPCATSOLANA and Telegram at t.me/popcatsolana. Copy the address from the site or from a listing you trust, never from replies or direct messages.

Limitations: the authority and supply figures depend on one third-party automated audit, and on-chain data changes over time. Nothing here is investment advice.
