Shiberse was the early codename for SHIB: The Metaverse, the virtual-land project from the Shiba Inu ecosystem. Its Windows early-access build came out around the end of December 2024. In July 2026 a community figure said the project was "temporary paused" and had updates "ready for their relaunch". No relaunch date has been announced. A July 2026 report also says the project's old website, shibthemetaverse.io, has expired and is no longer controlled by the Shiba Inu team. That means anything now hosted on that domain should not be treated as official.

- 7 July 2026: Mazrael, a long-time community member and adviser to the Shiba Eternity game, posted on X that ShibTheMetaverse.io is "no longer owned or managed by the Shib wizards" and "may be purchased or used by a third party". He told users "please do not assume that any future content on that domain is affiliated with the SHIB ecosystem" (reported by The Crypto Basic, 9 July 2026).
- 8 July 2026: In a second post, Mazrael wrote "we temporary paused SE along with the metaverse" and said "both MV and SE have much updates ready for their relaunch" (reported by U.Today, 9 July 2026). SE is Shiba Eternity and MV is the metaverse.
- Where it may return: Both outlets report that the metaverse is expected to come back through the shib.io website rather than a separate domain. U.Today presents this as its own reading, not as a direct quote.
These 2026 updates come from posts by a community figure, not an official team account, as reported by two outlets.
What this means in practice: don't download a client or connect a wallet through shibthemetaverse.io. Watch official Shiba Inu channels and shib.io for any relaunch.
Shiberse vs SHIB: The Metaverse
They are the same project. The Shiba Inu team announced "Shiberse" in January 2022, and lead developer Shytoshi Kusama said it was not the final name. Gfinity reported that he gave scams as the reason for changing it. The project was then branded SHIB: The Metaverse, and some coverage also calls it SHIB.io The Metaverse.
How the metaverse was designed
Land and districts
- Total plots: 100,595 land NFTs, minted by users. Some land is locked as travel corridors and public areas and cannot be bought (CoinDesk, May 2022).
- First phase: 36,431 plots, spread across four districts: Growth, Defense, Technology and Currencies.
- Tiers and launch prices (2022): Silver Fur (17,030 plots, 0.2 ETH), Gold Tail (7,356, 0.3 ETH), Platinum Paw (5,714, 0.5 ETH) and Diamond Teeth (2,024, 1 ETH). In that phase 4,307 plots stayed blocked (Forklog, March 2022).
- Sale order: LEASH lockers and Shiboshi NFT holders got early access to the sale. A public sale open to everyone followed in April 2022.
- Hubs: HUBS are the highest-value land plots, and CoinDesk says SHIB can be used to lease them.
Building partner
In July 2022 the Shiba Inu team named The Third Floor, a Los Angeles visualisation studio, to design and develop the environments, buildings and landmarks.

The 2022 materials say users can spend SHIB to name or rename plots. They also describe SHIB being burned when landowners change a plot's pictures or logos.

What early access offered (December 2024 to January 2025)
Brave New Coin reported early access rolling out on 27 December 2024. The original target had been December 2023. Playtoearn described the early-access build on 2 January 2025:
- Platform: free download for Windows PCs (Windows 10 minimum, Windows 11 recommended). Owning land was not required to join.
- Land: 36,431 of the 100,595 plots unlocked, with land payable in SHIB on Shibarium or ETH on Ethereum.
- Features live at the time: Plot Builder with pre-built kits, Avatar Builder (cosmetic items only), voice and text chat, and teleports between areas. Ryoshi Plaza and WAGMI Temple were named among the public spaces.
- Planned but not shipped at the time: desktop browser access, linking multiple wallets, uploading custom 3D models, gated events, combining plots into estates, game-building tools, e-commerce, and bridging land between Shibarium and Ethereum.
At that point the team had not set a date for the full launch. Given the 2026 pause, there is still no confirmed timeline.
The SHIB token context
CoinGecko lists SHIB's all-time high at $0.00008616. On 25 October 2026 its data showed SHIB about 94% below that level. Metaverse land is priced in, or tied to, SHIB and ETH, so the value of the land depends on both tokens and on whether people actually use the world. The project is now paused and its demand is unproven.
