Yieldly (YLDY): What Happened to the Algorand DeFi Suite

Yieldly closed its staking dapp in May 2023 and shifted to a launchpad and NFTs. What YLDY was, what changed, and what is left now.

· By ZIPMEX · 12 min read

Yieldly is no longer the active Algorand DeFi platform it was in 2021. On 20 April 2023 the team said it would take its original staking dapp offline by the end of May 2023. It told users to withdraw their stake within 30 days. Its plan was to merge everything into two platforms: yLaunch, a token launchpad, and yNFT, an NFT marketplace. The last post on Yieldly's official Medium feed is dated 27 April 2023. DeFiLlama marks the project's website as dead from 2 August 2023 and shows zero tracked value locked (TVL) since October 2023. On 25 October 2026, yieldly.finance served a security certificate for a different host, and app.yieldly.finance did not resolve.

If you hold YLDY or still have a position in an old Yieldly pool, start with the dated record below. It covers the product history, how the wind-down happened and what can still be checked.

What Yieldly was

Runtime Verification described Yieldly in February 2022 as "a suite of DeFi products built on the Algorand blockchain offering liquidity mining, multi-asset staking, cross-chain swapping, and no-loss prize games." DeFiLlama's description is almost the same: no-loss prize games, multi-asset staking and cross-chain swapping on Algorand.

No-loss prize games

Users staked tokens to get tickets for prize draws. Prizes were ALGO at first and later NFTs. In the version relaunched in February 2023, more staked YLDY meant more tickets. Ticket entries multiplied the longer they were held, up to 7 days. Unstaking at any time cancelled the tickets.

Multi-asset staking pools

Users staked YLDY and earned YLDY plus other Algorand Standard Assets (ASAs) as rewards. This is the "classic staking" dapp that Yieldly shut down in May 2023.

Bridge

Yieldly ran a bridge between Algorand ASAs and Ethereum ERC-20 tokens. YLDY exists in both forms. CoinMarketCap lists the Ethereum contract as 0x88cb253d4c8cab8cdf7948a9251db85a13669e23.

Peak size

DeFiLlama records Yieldly's highest TVL as about $90.0 million on 9 September 2021. Its TVL had fallen to zero by October 2023.

YLDY token facts that can still be checked

  • Maximum and total supply: 10 billion YLDY (CoinMarketCap).
  • Circulating supply: 2.55 billion YLDY, about 25.57% of max supply. CoinMarketCap marks this figure as self-reported by the project.
  • Price and market cap: CoinMarketCap shows no price or market cap for YLDY and labels its page "a preview page".
  • Chains: Algorand (as an ASA) and Ethereum (as an ERC-20).

The staking dapp was due to close by the end of May 2023

On 20 April 2023 Yieldly said the staking dapp would be decommissioned by the end of May 2023 and told users to remove their stake within 30 days. This article found no official notice of a recovery path after that date.

The prize game ran on yNFT from February 2023

The No-Loss Prize Game returned on yNFT on 14 February 2023. Users staked YLDY for tickets, and unstaking at any time cancelled the tickets. No later official post was found after 27 April 2023.

Little live data exists for YLDY on Algorand

CoinMarketCap shows no price or market cap for YLDY and lists a self-reported circulating supply of 2.55 billion out of 10 billion. DeFiLlama has shown zero TVL since October 2023.

Check the ERC-20 contract and the cross-chain claims

CoinMarketCap lists the Ethereum contract as 0x88cb253d4c8cab8cdf7948a9251db85a13669e23. The cross-chain YLDY transfers announced on 27 April 2023 are not shown to have gone live, and CoinMarketCap shows no price for YLDY.

This guide only sorts the dated public record: it cannot check your wallet balance, recover funds or say what any YLDY is worth, and no team statement after April 2023 was found.

Security audits

  • Runtime Verification, report published 2 December 2021. It covered the staking.teal multi-token staking pool contract, written in TEALv5. The firm said it "identified and highlighted some issues along with a number of informative findings" and that the team "addressed all the issues and concerns raised during the audit." It also said it had audited "another set of contracts" for Yieldly before.
  • Halborn audited the Yieldly lottery (prize game) smart contract on Algorand. DeFiLlama links to the report in Halborn's public reports repository.

These audits cover 2021 contract versions only. They tell you nothing about any contract deployed after the 2023 restructuring.

What this means for holders

  • The original staking dapp is gone. Yieldly gave users until the end of May 2023 to withdraw. This article found no official notice of a recovery path after that date.
  • Little live data remains. With no price feed on CoinMarketCap and no TVL on DeFiLlama, outside data on YLDY's value and liquidity is sparse or stale.
  • Treat old links with care. The official domain no longer serves a valid certificate for itself. Do not connect a wallet to pages that claim to be Yieldly without checking their address against the official channels listed in the project's 2023 posts.

What was removed from the 2021 version of this page

The earlier page treated Yieldly's 2021 roadmap as current. That included the planned BSC and Polygon bridge extensions and a decentralised exchange for Algorand. None of these can be confirmed as delivered, and the April 2023 restructuring replaced that roadmap.

Limitations: the wind-down timeline rests on Yieldly's own Medium posts, with DeFiLlama data as the only independent check, and no post-2023 statement from the team was found.
